icy roads

We are being hit with a lot of snow and ice and sub-freezing temperatures these days.  I tried driving around to do some errands today and found myself sliding backwards and doing 180’s and 360’s on some of our back roads.  Many people in the area are without power.  School has been canceled for 3 straight days.  It’s a hard and trying time all around.

Today’s Bible reading was Psalm 23.  It’s a comfort to remember this psalm and reflect on “the Lord is my shepherd” when you’re skidding out-of-control backwards downhill.  I am thankful He is my shepherd and I shall not want.  I am thankful for His guidance and comfort and His presence with me, at all times, even in times of danger.  Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.   Amen.
