I have notice a marked increase in the amount of SPAM this website gets. You the reader don’t see it, but I the moderator get a “jillion” offers a day for gucci bags, buying gold, designer jeans, etc. It’s incredible the amount of “email noise” this SPAM is. It wears me down, it distracts me, it gets on my nerves. I like to eat spam just as much as the next guy, (“I’m having the spam-spam-spam-spam and spam for breakfast!”), but this email SPAM is noisy and driving me bonkers!
How good it is to be quiet before the Lord, to “be still and know that I am God”, to “get away alone for a time and pray.” Elijah heard God, not in the wind or the earthquake, but the “still small voice”, the silence and the quietness of God. This is such an important discipline today, in our culture, to be quiet.
What is all the noise in your life? Are you able to hear God through all the noise and “SPAM”? Do we need another billboard or strip mall (visual SPAM)? Let me encourage you today to shut off the TV, radio, Internet, pager, cell phone, IPOD, myspace; can you get before the Lord in quietness for a time, with no visual or audible distractions? This is a worthy excercise and God will meet you there.
