Calvin said two things in his Institutes that struck me. One, “God is the foundation of all goodness. We must seek everything in Him and in none but Him.” This certainly affects my calendar and planning out my week! It helps prioritize and puts life in perspective.
The second thing is, “Pure and genuine religion is confidence in God and serious fear of Him. This leads to legitimate worship. All men may do homage to God, but few truly revere Him. There may be an abundance of ceremonies, but sincerity of heart is rare.” How much of our Christianity and worship is routine and ritual, but real heart and commitment is lacking? This is challenging in my life.
