Book Review: Understanding the Big Picture of the Bible

Book reviews

Understanding the Big Picture of the Bible is a collection of articles and essays that are helpful in understanding the Bible’s genres, theology of the different books, history of the times, and intertestamental developments. It is well written and marked by excellent research and scholarship from a wide range of power-house authors, but at times it is missing passion and connectedness, and there is no application. It is Scripture based and faithful to the Bible’s meaning and message, but similar information can be found in the notes and introductions of a good study Bible . Charts, diagrams and dated time-lines are included to help the reader understand relationships and events. This is a basic book for new believers or believers not familiar with bigger, over-arching themes of the Bible, and it is valuable for introducing these topics. It is a guide to reading the Bible better, with more depth and meaning. It could be good use for either personal or group study. No notes or “books to read for further study” page are provided, and this could have been helpful.

This book was provided to me at no cost by Amazon Vine for the purpose of review. I was not required to write a positive review.
