A brief youtube video wherein John Piper discusses his hatred for the health, wealth, and prosperity gospel…
This is an article by John Piper encouraging us to keep in the presence of God.
The words we speak reveal our character, our hearts, and our allegiances. The words we speak say alot about who we are. This is my sermon from Matthew 12:33-37 I preached on November 20, 2011
A good resource on where and how to get online free courses from top-notch places.
What is important to us at Bethlehem Chapel? What do we value? What hills are we prepared to die on?
1. prayer
2. prominence of the Word
3. presence of the Holy Spirit
4. personal relationships with believers and non-believers
If you are a part of our body, I hope you see the importance of these elements everytime we gather and separate.
George shared a message from 1 Corinthians 15 on November 13. It is an encouraging word for all who struggle with issues in this life.
In Matthew 12:22-32, Jesus cast out a demon and the Pharisees attribute this power to Satan. Jesus has strong words for those who would reject God, His Kingdom, and His King. This sermon was given on November 6, 2011.
Romans 3:25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.
There might be a better verse to bring forth this idea, but I think alot about propitiation and substitution. Christianity is based on substitution. What other religion or belief speaks this way? Christ substituted for me. I deserved penalty and death, but God put it on His Son instead of me. This is freeing and loving and assuring. It can be used to fight against sin and Satan. It comforts me in hard times. “Nothing in my hands I bring, only to the cross I cling.” I pray substitution will grip you and empower you and comfort you in the days ahead.
1 Kings 2:2-4 “I am about to go the way of all the earth. Be strong, and show yourself a man, and keep the charge of the LORD your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his rules, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn, that the LORD may establish his word that he spoke concerning me, saying, ‘If your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.”
These are David’s final instructions to Solomon as he is taking over as king. His “last words” serve as a good pattern for us to live our lives.
1. Be strong.
2. Show yourself to be a man (or woman).
3. Keep God’s charge.
4. Walk in His ways – live according to His Word.
Make this a pattern of your life, living it out every day. Start your day off with the Word and prayer and His presence. Continue in His presence and grace and work throughout your days. Remember it is by His blood you are saved and the power of the gospel to work in your life, giving you the strength and enabling you to endure.
